Greater London Lieutenancy (GLL)

The Greater London Lieutenancy represents His Majesty the King in Greater London, covering the 32 London boroughs. The Lord-Lieutenant and Deputy Lieutenants act as the Monarch’s personal representatives, connecting the Royal Family with the people of London through royal visits, honours, and civic engagement.

The Lieutenancy’s duties include:

  • Coordinating and escorting Royal Family visits to Greater London

  • Presenting honours and awards on behalf of the Sovereign

  • Supporting charities, voluntary organisations and community initiatives

  • Liaising with local military units, cadet forces and youth groups

  • Acting as a bridge between individuals, organisations and communities to promote social inclusion

The current Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London is Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE. Both he and his Deputies serve as volunteers, upholding the dignity of the Crown while fostering cooperation and community spirit across the capital.

WordPress Web Design for the Greater London Lieutenancy

Button Web Design was chosen to design and develop the Greater London Lieutenancy’s official WordPress website. The site showcases the Lieutenancy’s work, honours system, Royal visits and community engagement in a modern, user-friendly design.

As a WordPress expert, I also built a secure extranet portal exclusively for the Deputy Lieutenants. This private online space allows the team to collaborate, manage events and share resources efficiently.
